In coverage celebrating Portland's historic fundraising campaign, Willamette Week highlighted the Give!Guide celebration hosted at Mississippi Studios, emphasizing the community impact made possible through partnerships with local cultural organizations, including CymaSpace.
Setting a New Standard for Accessible Events
When Willamette Week brought together hundreds of donors, volunteers, non-profit organizers, and musicians at Mississippi Studios to mark the culmination of the annual Give!Guide campaign, ensuring total community accessibility was front and center.
CymaSpace partnered with the venue and event organizers to deliver complete multi-sensory accommodation throughout the evening:
- Real-Time Sound-to-Light Translation: Custom lighting arrays converted live musical performances into responsive, chromatic animations visible from every corner of the room.
- Live Open Captioning (CART): Projecting spoken remarks, announcements, and song lyrics directly onto main venue screens so that Deaf and hard-of-hearing attendees did not miss a beat.
- Vibrotactile Staging: Bringing tactile acoustic units into the listening area so patrons could feel the rhythm directly.
“Events like the Give!Guide celebration demonstrate that accessibility isn't a limitation—it's an elevation of the communal experience that brings our entire city closer together.”
